Country guide to St. Kitts and Nevis
The nation is split into two islands. While St. Kitts holds the main resorts and the party-style nightlife, Nevis is the laid-back, tranquil part of the country. On St. Kitts, you can visit the Brimstone Hill Fortress and Cockleshell Beach, and experience a rainforest tour. On Nevis, stroll through the Botanical Gardens, lounge at Herbert’s Beach and check out the colonial village of Charlestown.

Driving tips for your Basseterre rental car
Basseterre is known for its narrow streets, but the city is easy to navigate and any traffic clears away quickly.
● Drive on the left-hand side of the road and always wear your seatbelt.
● Make sure to obtain a temporary driver’s license (USD $25). Rental companies often drive guests to the purchasing locations.
● Watch out for goats and other livestock near the roads.
● Avoid driving at night when possible, as the roads are not well-lit and potholes are common.
● Local drivers do not use their car horns aggressively, but rather as a way to greet friends.
Parking options in downtown Basseterre and at the airport
Parking on the side of the road is quite common in downtown Basseterre. Make sure to abide by signs and avoid parking in front of driveways. Many shops and restaurants in town offer guest parking and most hotels and resorts include parking spaces on location.
If you need to park at the airport, there is a small lot across from terminal building.
