Driving tips for your Milan rental car
Italian road names are easy to confuse. Hire a GPS with your rental car to save time and avoid stressful situations.
Italy driving tips
• Drive on the right side of the road, overtake on the left side.
• Italians are known to forgo all rules of the road. Stay alert and be prepared for tailgaters and speedsters.
• Handsfree mobile devices are permitted, but use cautiously.
• Carry change for the toll roads.
• Bring a paper map in case your GPS signal fails.

At Pisa Airport, choose from short-stay, multi-story or long-term lots accessible 24 hours a day. Short-stay offers 10 minutes free and is located in front of Departures. The rate for short-stay and multi-story is €3 for 30 minutes, €4 for an hour with a daily max of €30 and €25 respectively. Park at long-stay for €7 per day.
Pisa is one of the easier cities in Italy for parking. Stay outside the ZTL (Zone Traffico Limitato) to avoid fines, which is easy to recognise as it’s walled off. Choose nearby parking garages or on-street spots and walk into the centre.
Don’t miss Italy’s “Chocolate Valley” only a short drive from Pisa.
