Driving tips for your Milan rental car
Traffic congestion is to be expected during peak hours. Always stay alert and cautious while behind the wheel and follow these tips to get around safely:
• Drive on the right side of the road, overtake on the left side.
• Italians are known for tailgating; keep your safe speed and let them pass when the opportunity arrives.
• ZTL zones are areas that limit driving in congested areas. Avoid Milan’s city center (Area C) from Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 7:30pm.
• Hands-free mobile devices are permitted, but use cautiously.
• Carry change for the toll roads.

Parking options at Milan-Malpensa Airport and Milan
Choose from a number of parking options within a 4-minute walk to the Milan Airport Terminal 1 and a free shuttle service to Terminal 2. Long-term is best for cheap multi-day parking. Choose Express or Executive lots to park directly next to the terminal. The Easy lot is next to T2 and includes a free shuttle to T1.
When parking your car hire in Milan, it is best to avoid the city centre (Area C). Instead park outside the area and travel on foot or use the public transport. Street parking is marked by blue lines and uses a pay and display system. Note: the hourly rate increases the closer you get to the city. Garages are available for longer periods of parking time.
