Driving from the Dublin City Centre to Dublin Airport
The Dublin Airport is located ten kilometres north of the city centre. The drive from the city to the airport should take thirty minutes depending on the traffic. Navigate your car hire onto the N1 Road, then take Exit 2 onto the M50, and follow the signs to the airport. Turn onto the M1 and use the R132 exit to arrive at the airport.
Driving tips for your Dublin rental car
Driving in the city centre of Dublin is what you would expect for a big city. Be prepared for heavy traffic especially during the morning and afternoon rush hours.

● In Ireland, motorists drive on the left-hand side of the road and speed limits are posted in kilometres per hour. Do note that speed limits in Northern Ireland are posted in miles per hour.
● The minimum driving age is 17 and 25 to rent a car.
● Take care on rural roads, where hazards like slow-moving farm machinery and livestock are often present on the roads.
● Seatbelts are compulsory for all passengers in the car.
● It is prohibited to use the car horn between 11.30pm and 7am in urban areas.
There is no shortage of parking options at the Dublin Airport. For a short-stay choose from 4000 parking spaces in the multistory parking lots, located next to Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Short-term parking is affordable with rates starting at €3 an hour. For long-term parking, the airport offers three parking lots with over 18,000 parking spots starting at €9.50.
Visitors will find plenty of parking options in Dublin including public parking garages and on-street parking. To avoid being fined, clamped or towed, take care not to park in restricted areas, indicated by painted double yellow lines and signage.
