Introducing Aalborg Airport
Aalborg Airport is a small terminal, but one with a big history, as it was one end of the first domestic flight route in Denmark (Copenhagen-Aalborg). Today approximately 1.5 million passengers pass through the airport every year, the majority of which are domestic travellers flying to and from destinations such as Copenhagen and Bornholm.
Within the airport, there are several places where you can purchase something to eat or drink, a duty free store, a play area for the kids, and you can connect to free WiFi throughout the terminal.
You’ll find all the car rental desks at Aalborg Airport in the arrivals area.
A quick guide to driving your car hire in Aalborg
Keep in mind that you’ll be driving on the right-hand side of the road during your time in Denmark, use plenty of common sense and courtesy on the roads, and you’ll find that driving here is a breeze.
Driving from the airport to the CBD
The airport is just 6 kilometres from town, so it only takes 10-15 minutes to drive there. When you leave the airport, turn right on the main road onto Route 55, then follow this south and turn right again onto Route 180, which will take you over the bridge and into town.
Tips for driving your rental car in Aalborg
Aalborg is a fairly straightforward and easy place to drive in once you have a GPS to show you the way. It can help to familiarise yourself with the basic layout before you arrive so you have the gist of it when you land, and as always with Danish cities, be wary of the high volume of cyclists on the roads.
Parking at Aalborg Airport
One of the perks of Aalborg Airport is that it offers more than 5,000 free parking stalls for visitors in lots P1, P2, P3 and P4. Or, you can opt for paid parking in the parking areas directly in front of the terminal for added convenience.
